In her paintings, Liza takes inspiration from her surroundings in coastal New England. She lives in Waltham and frequents Gloucester to paint, working abstractly and representationally, depending on the mood.
Liza has studied under artists such as Richard Raiselis, Dana Clancy, Harold Reddicliffe, Rokhaya Waring and Caleb Stone. She has completed many commissions and her paintings are held in private collections internationally and in the United States.
Liza teaches K-5 Art at the Hemenway Elementary School in Framingham, MA. She previously served as the lower school art teacher for three years at Glen Urquhart School in Beverly, MA. Liza attended Boston University where she earned a BFA in Painting and an MA in Art Education.
While teaching, Liza’s goal is to provide inspiration, instruction, and guidance while encouraging independence and creativity. To quote MaryAnn F. Kohl; “Art is a place for children to learn to trust their ideas, themselves, and to explore what is possible.”
